We are McKennas, Shapiros, Barredas and Burmeisters. Our farm, Cottonwood, has been in the McKenna Family since 1899. Here at Cottonwood we primarily grow corn and soybeans, but that's not all. Between the many cups of coffee that we drink, we also grow grapes that we make into wine and jelly. We grow an ancient purple corn, passed down from Native Americans, that we make into whiskey. And we, of course, grow a bit of poppin' corn to share with family and friends. We plant dozens of trees, thousands of sunflowers and a whole lot of milkweed, which attracts migrating monarch butterflies. We handmake pies and bread, hand-churn ice cream, and fry donuts in a cauldron. We restore what's old, break what's new and always have a project in the works. We wish upon balloons, we gaze at shooting stars and we listen to the chorus frogs sing. We celebrate, we meditate and we Gator, everywhere we Gator. We have a Party Shed, a Shizzle Shack, a Hidden Valley, a Little House and a Sandy Lane. Cottonwood is where we all come together, our home away from home.
